    anna@ajohnstonpilates.com
Anna-Katherine Johnston received her Romana’s Pilates certification in 2007 after spending four years as a student of the method. As an avid athlete, and soccer player for 25 years, she believes fitness and movement are critical to living a full life. Pilates helped Anna change her body, lose weight and recover from several sports-related injuries. Her passion for the method comes from the knowledge that pilates can help any body change, can help individuals overcome injuries and ailments and can help to create a strong and lean physique. She has worked with people of all ages and body types and loves the fact that she can have such an impact on their lives. Romana’s Pilates is the method of pilates in which Joseph Pilates himself left his legacy. It requires a minimum of 600 hours of teaching and observation. There are three stages: basic, intermediate and advanced, and a weekend seminar accompanies each stage. Every student is required to take a written and oral test at the completion of each stage which tests not just their knowledge of the exercises but also how to work them into different body types. A major part of certification is learning how to modify all exercised to help those with body issues and injuries. Certified instructors must complete, at minimum, one continuing education per year to keep their certification.
